Role Overview:
As a Data Engineer, you will be the technical architect behind our data-driven decision-making. You will transform raw data into actionable insights by building scalable, cost-efficient data structures in Google BigQuery. This is a high-visibility role requiring a balance of deep technical SQL expertise and the ability to consult with non-technical business leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- BigQuery Architecture: Design and manage nested and partitioned tables to support high-performance, scalable data environments.
- SQL Optimization: Write and refine complex stored procedures and queries, focusing on minimizing cost and maximizing retrieval speed.
- Workflow Automation: Design robust ETL/ELT pipelines using BigQuery and other GCP-native tools to automate end-to-end data processing.
- BI & Visualization: Collaborate with BI teams to develop advanced Looker (LookML) models, dashboards, and reports that ensure data accuracy and timeliness.
- Data Governance: Implement rigorous data quality checks, validation processes, and security protocols to maintain compliance and governance standards.
- Strategic Collaboration: Act as a technical consultant for data scientists and analysts, translating business requirements into technical data solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- GCP Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with Google BigQuery, including table partitioning, clustering, and nested fields.
- Technical Stack: Proficiency in complex SQL, workflow automation tools, and data warehousing best practices.
- Looker Mastery: Significant experience with Looker and LookML development is a strong competitive advantage.
- Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between technical development and business impact for diverse stakeholders.
- Shift Flexibility: Willingness to work the EST Day Shift (aligning with North American business hours).
- Education: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
