About the Role
The Connected Home Hardware Engineering team is a group of talented technical subject matter experts delivering world class video experiences to TELUS customers. We create combined hardware and software solutions to support new and existing IPTV devices such as set-top boxes (STBs). We are looking for a dynamic and passionate senior level Data Analyst, capable of leveraging their expertise to work with data pipelines processing hundreds of data points from millions of hardware devices. As a member of the team, you will execute on key data initiatives focused on creating best-in-class TV and OTT video experiences, while delivering timely and accurate data analytics to support a world class DevOps organization.
What you’ll do
Develop and optimize accurate, high performing data pipelines using Google CLoud Platform, to deliver telemetry from multiple models of video devices in the field.
Create engaging, high performing visualizations to support operational decisions, identify improvement opportunities, and to quickly assess and respond to potential or developing issues.
Collaborate with external vendor partners, bringing together industry expertise to create and scale device management solutions for set-top box devices.
Partner with internal stakeholder teams - you will ensure proper integration with backend systems for device analytics to meet customers' expectations of a highly reliable, always-on service
Apply best practices for software development in different frameworks and troubleshoot integration issues
Ensure a high level of code quality and integrity in software development projects
Work with Project Managers, Product Managers and Network Planners to ensure the successful delivery of projects
Develop and maintain technical documentation and work processes
What you bring
In-depth experience developing, deploying and tuning large scale data warehouses and data pipelines using tools like SQL, BI layers (Looker or Tableau), BigQuery, Dataflow, Kafka.
Experience developing high performance code in JavaScript or Python.
Experience integrating heterogeneous data sources to achieve highly integrated, performant data pipelines and visualizations.
Working knowledge of developing and scaling RESTful services.
Experience designing, building and maintaining High Availability systems.
Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
Know your way around with modern source code manager such at Git.
Translate technical concepts and requirements for non-technical stakeholders.
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineer or related field.
Great-to-haves
Experience with automated testing frameworks.
Experience integrating with third party APIs and working with testing platforms such as Postman.
Device management protocols such as TR-069 and TR-369.
Messaging and streaming technologies such as STOMP, MQTT, AMQP.
Practical experience in delivering best-in-class video entertainment experiences.
JIRA and Confluence knowledge.
Experience with CI/CD using technologies like GitHub Actions.
