Position overview:

The Learning & Development - General Learning Specialist, formerly known as a Language and Communications Trainer, is responsible for delivering training to enhance the English proficiency of TELUS Digital Central America’s team members and potential new hires. This is achieved through TELUS Language Academy, an internal initiative aimed at improving the English skills of potential new hires who do not meet the required proficiency to be hired by our international accounts, as well as providing floor support with Communication Reinforcement Training for existing team members handling calls, chats, or emails. The Specialist delivers training entirely in English, focusing on improving accent, grammar, comprehension, customer service skills, and writing skills. Learning & Development - General Learning Specialists must be able to deliver results within specific timeframes to meet departmental targets.


Key responsibilities:
Provide English reinforcement to external and internal participants, evaluate their performance to identify areas for improvement, create action plans for specific topics that require reinforcement, and coordinate all logistics for effective training delivery (e.g., reserving training space, preparing audiovisual equipment, and ensuring effective communication with participants). Additionally, perform language assessments to determine CEFRL levels, conduct Language Academy interviews, and create training materials for new and existing stakeholders and Language Academy students as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teacher or Trainer - Desired.

Qualifications:

  • Native or near-native English speakers (CEFRL score of B2 or above)

  •Oral and written comprehension

  •Appropriate use of the English language

  • BA/BS degree preferably in Educational Sciences, Languages, Communications, Business Administrations or related,  - Desirable.

  • Experience in ESL System - Desirable.

  • Experience with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) - Desirable.
