As an Associate Linguist, you will provide linguistic expertise for developing NLP tools for the target language. You will be involved in annotation, creating grammar rules, formulating language templates, finding patterns, and evaluating existing data. Full training on tools and processes will be provided. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ideal candidates will have native-level fluency in Italian, may be students in the later stages of their studies, and should demonstrate some of the following skills:

-  Solid and comprehensive understanding of the formal aspects of the target language (e.g., grammar, parts of speech, formal and casual forms, dialects)

-  Knowledge and awareness of linguistic terms and concepts.

-  Good understanding of and interest in the current technology landscape, including IT & computing, AI, machine learning, voice assistants, and the Internet of Things.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grasping technical concepts and learning new tools

• Excellent attention to detail

• Ability to work independently with confidence and little oversight

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

It is an advantage to have:

• Experience using NLP tools and concepts

• Experience in annotation work

• Knowledge of formal linguistics

• Working knowledge of complex tools, e.g. CMS, SQL, Advanced Excel/Sheets

• Some knowledge of programming/coding (e.g. Python, R, regular expressions)

• Experience in testing, data processing, database management,

• Formal linguistic education is a plus

• Full training on tools and processes to be used will be provided. Candidates must be ready to relocate for this on-site position.
