Are you a highly skilled and proactive Senior Application Support Specialist with a strong DevOps mindset? Do you possess deep expertise in troubleshooting complex Java applications hosted in AWS, coupled with a passion for automation and continuous improvement? If so, we are seeking a talented individual to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of our mission-critical applications. In this role, you will leverage your advanced technical skills and exceptional communication abilities to resolve critical issues, mentor junior team members, and drive operational excellence in our dynamic cloud environment.
Responsibilities
- Expert AWS Application Support: Provide advanced-level troubleshooting and support for applications hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically within EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) and EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) environments.
- Advanced Java Application Troubleshooting: Conduct in-depth troubleshooting of complex Java applications, including thorough thread and heap analysis. You will navigate intricate multi-application environments with firewall constraints to identify and resolve root causes.
- Proactive Log Analysis with Splunk (or Equivalent): Utilize Splunk or other log analytics tools to perform sophisticated log analysis for application troubleshooting. This includes developing ad-hoc queries to pinpoint application issues and clearly articulating search parameters and commands beyond basic dashboard usage.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization with APM Tools: Employ Datadog, AppDynamics, or other Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools (such as DynaTrace or New Relic) to proactively monitor application health and performance. This involves in-depth investigation of business transactions, information points, and health rules to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Database Interaction Analysis and Troubleshooting: Possess a comprehensive understanding of Java application to database interactions and demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills for both Oracle and MongoDB databases. This includes analyzing JDBC connection utilization, connection pool/query/cache optimization, and the ability to analyze database reports like AWR to provide actionable recommendations.
- Drive Automation and Efficiency: Design, develop, and maintain automated pipelines using tools like GitLab and Jenkins to streamline deployments, testing, and other operational tasks.
- Linux Environment Expertise: Provide support for applications running in a Linux environment, including shell scripting for the automation of administrative tasks, understanding OS settings for application performance optimization, administering microservices, and troubleshooting logging/forwarding issues.
- Technical Leadership and Mentoring: Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and day-to-day direction to technical staff involved in responding to alarms, triaging issues, and escalating appropriately. Continuously strive to improve team response processes and knowledge.
- Clear and Effective Communication: Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clarity and ease of understanding for a diverse audience, including leadership and technical teams. You will be able to convey complex technical information concisely and effectively.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in providing application support for applications hosted in AWS on EKS and EC2.
- Advanced-level expertise in Java application troubleshooting, including thread and heap analysis in complex, firewalled environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Splunk or other log analytics tools for in-depth application troubleshooting, including the ability to develop ad-hoc queries.
- Hands-on experience utilizing Datadog, AppDynamics, or equivalent APM tools for comprehensive application health and performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Comprehensive understanding and troubleshooting skills related to Java application interaction with Oracle and MongoDB databases, including connection management and query optimization.
- Experience in creating and maintaining automated pipelines using tools like GitLab and Jenkins.
- Solid knowledge of supporting applications in a Linux environment, including shell scripting and OS settings for performance optimization.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to articulate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in providing technical mentoring and guidance to junior team members.
